Why It's Important To Shop Locally...

Todd and Moore

I like to see what I buy. I want to touch it and try it on. I want to know and see who I’m buying from. I want to know the merchant cares about me the customer. I want to know that they value my business and will stand behind their product or service. I want to know their repair or replacement policy and if they guarantee a service. For me, on-line purchasing, no matter how good the deal may seem, can’t give me assurance of any of the things that are important to me.

More than anything I want to support local merchants and our local economy where I live, work, and play. On-line shopping with out-of–state merchants may save me a few bucks, but in the long run does it really? I don’t think so and I’ll tell you why. If the local economy flounders, my quality of life and income may flounder as well.

Hear me out on this. Locally owned and operated businesses bring character and uniqueness to Columbia that corporately owned big box stores don’t and can’t. Local businesses typically offer a high level of customer service as they hire experienced personnel with product knowledge, wisdom, and a vested interest in the company they work for. A local sales staff saves me time and money by guiding me to make wise purchases instead of ordering on-line and potentially losing money on costly returns. My hard earned money stays in the community and recirculates instead of leaking away to outside suppliers and corporate headquarters.

And when money stays in our community it greatly improves our quality of life. Statistics prove that locally owned businesses give generously to community events, non-profits, and sports teams. The bottom line is that local businesses are owned by people who live in the community and are invested in the community’s welfare and future.

At Todd & Moore, we pride ourselves in being a locally owned and operated family business. We care about our customers and it is always our goal to offer the BEST customer service and the BEST prices on name brand products. We give generously on a monthly basis to non-profit organizations and sports teams hosting benefits and fundraisers. We do our part to keep our local economy strong and vibrant by outsourcing custom screenprinting and embroidery and purchasing all of our office equipment and supplies from locally owned and operated businesses just like ours. We also contract for building and lawn maintenance, printing needs, employee benefit packages, website design, phone and internet maintenance --- ALL from Columbia based businesses.

We hope you will give us the opportunity to be your specialist in sports in the community where you work, live, and play as well.

I shop locally and encourage you to do the same,
Beth
