Love Blossoms At Todd & Moore...

Over the many years that I have worked at Todd & Moore I have watched several workplace romances develop. Some didn’t last long and several have very happy endings. Here’s the love story of Kristen Miers and David Crider…

Kristen started working for Todd & Moore in July of 1996 and David joined our team a year or so later in October of 1997. Both were college students. Kristen primarily worked as a Sales Associate at the front register and David as a stringer in the Tennis Department. One day while straightening shoes on the Ladies’ Closeout table, David asked Kristen out on their first date.

David says it was Kristen’s beauty that first attracted him, but as he got to know her, he quickly found that they had lots in common. “As anyone who worked with her at Todd & Moore knows, she is a kind, funny, smart and wonderful person who is always fun to be around.”

Kristen remembers that she had not even said two words to David when he asked her out for their first date to see Scream 2 at the Pastime Pavilion. Not sure how the date would go, Kristen was happy to realize they had lots in common. “David is a very smart, honest, sweet, and thoughtful guy who can always make me smile. And it doesn’t hurt that he is a cutie! He was a HOT tennis guy!”

Just 6 months after their first date, they both realized they had met their future spouse. Kristen says, “Any guy who will pack your mouth with gauze after having your wisdom teeth out is pretty much a keeper.” David concurs that Kristen had quite an impact on him. “After 6 months, she had completely turned me around. I knew right away that I was a better person with her and that I needed to be with her the rest of my life.”

On what turned out to be a dark and stormy night, David proposed after a planned walk by the creek outside Kristen’s family home got washed out. Back at his house David was a bit nervous and having trouble getting to the point, but luckily, Kristen said yes and they were married on May 12, 2001 with their Todd & Moore family in attendance.

Kristen is now a registered nurse in the Endoscopy department and assists physicians in performing procedures. David is an Energy Manager that assists his clients in reducing their energy expenses. They have three beautiful daughters, Grace (7), Emma (4), and Abby (2). Kristen’s sister Kelly Miers Coombs has previously worked at our O’Neil Court location and her youngest sister Kayla is currently working at our Huger Street location.

David and Kristen’s favorite Todd & Moore memories are hot doughnut holes delivered on Saturday mornings by the late Coach Harry Parone, the crazyness of Jordan release days, Todd & Moore golf tournaments, busy Gamecock football Saturdays, and eating lunch at Monterrey’s.

“What makes Todd & Moore special is that it is a family owned company. When you work there, you are truly part of a family. I feel like I am still part of that family. You won’t find a better group of people anywhere and you will never have more fun making a paycheck. Hopefully, one day, our girls will have the opportunity to become register babes, (or tennis racquet girls), and carry on the family tradition.”
