It's A Family Affair

I was first hired to work at Todd & Moore in 1983 while a junior at USC. After graduation in 1985, I got married and I went on the road with my husband in the minor leagues with the New York Mets organization. As my luck would have it, Chuck and G always had a place for me at one of our locations when we came home to Columbia in the “off-season”.

After my husband’s retirement as an athletic trainer with the Mets in 1996, we came home again and Chuck and G welcomed me back with open arms. I have been home at the downtown location of Todd & Moore ever since.

My co-workers have become like family to me. I spend a lot of waking hours with my work family in the challenging and fun world of retail and it is such a blessing to work for a family owned and operated business. Why? Because we are treated like real family.

Owners Chuck Todd & G Moore are first cousins, and Tim Robertson, Vice-President, is Chuck’s brother-in-law. Team Sales Representative, Mae Todd Mullins is G’s niece and the list goes on of employees who are either first cousins, siblings, or children of former or current employees. We really like to keep it all in the family!

Those of us who are not family by DNA or marriage, have become related through years spent with the shared goal of being the BEST sporting goods store in the Palmetto State. Simply put, we are family. We care about one another. We’ve been there for one another through life’s triumphs and defeats. We’ve gotten married, had babies, and buried loved ones together. Sometimes we agree to disagree, hug and make-up, and move on. Just like real families.

We all value you, our customers. You are our extended family. Come on in, have a cup of coffee, and brag on your kids. That’s what families do.
