Lexington High School Wildcats

Tonight’s the night folks. High School football starts in the Midlands. What area team are you off to see play tonight?

I will be heading to the quaint town of Batesburg-Leesville to watch my son and the Lexington High School Wildcats take on the Panthers. There will be no time for a stop at the famous Shealy’s Barbeque for the best fried chicken, barbecue, and vegetable buffet in the South. Nope, we’ll be tailgating in the B-L parking lot by 6:00 pm in our blue and gold.

For many of us, this is as good as it gets. Gathering on a Friday night with family and friends to watch our sons and daughters participate on the field or on the sidelines as an official, coach, player, trainer, cheerleader or band member. You can feel the excitement in the air the minute you arrive in the parking lot and hear the sounds from the stadium…the band tuning up their instruments, the cheerleaders chanting, and the players clapping and grunting as they go through pre-game warm-ups.

The excitement builds as the National Anthem is played and the teams prepare to make their grand entrance to the field. Every parent has their eye focused on their child’s jersey number to appear in the crowded huddle of players on the sideline. It helps when they are very tall and can jump high!

All of us at Todd & Moore wish the very best to all of the area High Schools taking the field tonight. You are an integral part of who we are and what we do. Here’s hoping Hurricane Irene behaves, everyone has safe travels, and that your team wins!
