Back is Good! Back to Back and Back to Football!

I could sense the excitement and anticipation in the air yesterday at work. As a steady stream of customers filled Todd & Moore, I could feel the energy. One of the many fun things about working in sporting goods is the atmosphere that surrounds High school football Fridays and College football Saturdays. It is always filled with hope.

Fans hope this will be THE season. Players hope to fulfill their potential. Coaches hope to nurture that potential. Parents hope their boys will be safe and make a contribution to their teams. Hope is a wonderful thing to have. I love the definition of hope. From Wikipedia:

Hope is the emotional state which promotes the belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one's life. It is the "feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best" or the act of "looking forward to with desire and reasonable confidence" or "feeling that something desired may happen". Other definitions are "to cherish a desire with anticipation"; "to desire with expectation of obtainment"; or "to expect with
confidence".

My favorite part of that definition is “looking forward to with desire and reasonable confidence”. That’s what we do as fans of the game. We have tremendous desire for our team to win and reasonable confidence that they will. With or without pre-season hype, we believe and have hope that this year will be better than last.
